Nice rooms; very friendly staff; great free hot breakfast; cozy bar
Noisy wedding party but it ended by 6 pm
The clewiston was average room was okay needed serious updating and better cleaning. Staff was friendly. The location was pretty good lots of conveince around.
The location. The bed was nice and big.
The bugs. My room was at the back oif the hotel and was stuffy. The room was not well ventilated and the TV would switch stations. The multiple plug outlet was a bit scary.
The rooms are a step back in time and a pleasant change from the cookie cutter rooms of the newer hotels. I stay in hotels approximately 150 nights a year and appreciate the charm of the Clewiston Inn. The staff is very friendly and make you feel at home. The beds are very comfortable and the bathrooms are always spotless. This was my third stay at the Clewiston Inn and will continue to stay at the hotel whenever business takes me to Clewiston.
An historic inn located on lake Okeechobee with a rustic but pleasant atmosphere. The staff was friendly and helpful, including the dining room people. If you want to see the "other Florida" this is a great place to consider staying while exploring the area along route 27 and the lake.
Location, rooms, and staff.
Slow service in dining room at breakfast.
No vodka in bar
Old fashioned feel, but nice and clean. Good location. Staff were great.
lack of elevator is a lproblem
I appreciated that this historic hotel retained its historically romantic ambience with substantial furniture and beautiful architecture & interior accents. I felt at peace in that. The bedding also seemed very clean & plush.
The place was crawling with bugs. Within minutes of entering my room, something bit my leg, & I must have killed at least a dozen flying insects in there. They were even hanging out on the wall just outside my room, & I couldn't figure how they'd have gotten in since it wasn't outside access & (I believe) all windows were sealed. When checking in on Monday night, I asked the young lady if there was anywhere to go that night for food & drink since a storm that never happened had led them to close their restaurant & lounge for the day - unannounced to their expecting guests :( She shook her head "no", so I was fortunate to have had snacks from the drive on hand for my dinner. That sucked. She handed me my key without mention of the fact that they have no elevators to haul my two closet-sized suitcases up to my 2nd-floor room, so I asked her about it when I realized my daunting task ahead upon sight of the grand & winding staircase. She brushed me off & quietly watched past her cellphone with a smirk as I yanked & dragged my stuff from one step to the next, leaving serious bruises. I coulda used some help. The next morning, I went to breakfast with my voucher & was given the menu, which was more like five lines reading "choose from cereal or toast; eggs scrambled or over-easy; bacon or sausage; coffee or tea; hashbrowns or home fries". I don't eat meat, so I got a kid-sized box of Rice Crispies with a cup of sour milk, one scrambled egg, & a handful of home fries. I had to ask for ketchup & remind the waitress for the toast. Would have been nice to have a pancake or a waffle maker, but then I guess they couldn't dictate their guests portions. (BTW I'm Size 2, & this was a bleak breakfast, even for me.) I also remember the bathtub being full of peeling paint. Ick. Point being, this hotel make an excellend candidate for Chef Ramsey's Hotel Hell. Has potential, being lovely to look at, but it needs a staff renovation & exterminator more than anything...
The building was lovely.
The interior needs some renovation and the evening meal was not very good. Breakfast was fine though. I would recommend the inn but would suggest that travelers ate somewhere else for dinner.
Nice location for those using the waterway between Stuart and Fort Myers.
You formerly welcomed boaters by picking them up at the local marina. We miss that. Also the restaurant has become a disappointment.
The Inn was lovely. The mural on the wall in the bar was out of sight. Sharon at the front desk was beautiful and extraordinarily courteous in all ways. I liked the frig in the room and the bathtub.
The restaurants in the hotel while listed open til 9 actually stopped serving around 8:30 so we needed to go out to get food. The toilet paper on the holder was not clean.
I thought the room was cramped and over crowded with furniture. The layout was terrible as well. The breakfast menu was extremely limited. I couldn't believe that you could have either coffee or orange juice. The fact that we had reserved two rooms and we then given one room and one suite and had to choose which of us would get the suite. It seems to me that either two rooms or two suites should have been offered.
Old and nice, good food good price on food, motel was a little over priced.
